2019 Email Marketing Plan Template
Planning is the first step to success. So, why as business owners don’t we take more time to actually plan our marketing! A simple plan doesn’t take very long and it will help guide you to actually getting things done. Pre-planning your email marketing campaigns is one of the easiest and best ways to kick off your 2019 marketing planning!
The idea of “planning” can seem overwhelming and time-consuming but I promise it isn’t! All you need to do is put some ideas on paper. I know this goes against everything you have learned. We are taught that planning needs to be very detailed and specific and organized and I am all for that type of planning – but I live in the real world where I just don’t have time for that! I have found with countless clients that a much more simple way of planning really works! So let’s talk a little about how to plan your 2019 email marketing campaigns.
A simple plan doesn’t take very long and it will help guide you to actually getting things done. Pre-planning your email marketing campaigns is one of the easiest and best ways to kick off you 2019 marketing planning!
First, think about how you want to lay out your emails. If you are someone who wants to send longer newsletters with 2+ topics, then this planning isn’t for you. I suggest – if this is your style, to do more traditional campaign planning. If you are a business owner who just wants to get some emails out the door then here is the plan. Your emails should be SHORT and SIMPLE. They should be 1 picture, 1 paragraph (3-5 sentences and under 300 words), one link, and one Call to Action. That is it!
So, now you know your basic email layout and you just need the content! To help you out, I have included a great planner from Constant Contact – that will help you organize your monthly email marketing campaigns but also will give you ideas for holidays/ topics each month so you know what to write about!
Now, you just need to put pen to paper and plan. Let’s work through an example to show you how to organize your plan. Let’s say you are a photographer and you want to plan out your February content. You know it is Valentine’s Day so you want to create an email around that. So, on the planner that you have downloaded, you can write something as simple as this “Picture – cute couple kissing. Content – Surprise her with a couples photography session for Valentine’s day. Link – couples photo gallery on my website. Call to action – buy a 1-hour session now for only $99”. Send – 2/5 – DONE. That is all you have to do!
Then, when it is time to sit down and create your email you will already have a plan and outline and will only take you about 30 minutes to put together your email and get it out the door. If you do your pre-planning you will have planned email marketing content for every month of the year. Can you imagine how successful you would be if you sent out an email every single month to your list!
Pre-planning your full year of 2019 email marketing campaigns is simple and won’t take more than an hour of your time. Once you are done you will have a full marketing plan that will help you and your business be more successful in 2019. I challenge you to create this plan and hold yourself accountable! If you take my challenge and create your plan, I want you to send it to me: meredith@marketingmaiden.com – I will look it over, give you my suggestions and help you out, totally for free IF you create a plan.
If you get stuck on any month, comment below with what type of business you have and what month you are stuck on and we will answer with our suggestions.
