We have all heard the crappy old marketing saying “If your business isn’t growing, it’s dying.”
Yeah, I don’t like it either but there is SOME truth in it.
You don’t always have to hustle and push yourself to the limit. But, your business does need to THRIVE. It needs to grow with intention and focus. At the pace that is right for you and those you serve. Knowing your business stage can help you do just that.
One way to make sure your business this thriving not just striving, is to make sure you are implementing the right digital marketing activities to reach your goals. This way you are not just putting in hours of effort for little to no results.
Knowing what stage your business is currently in will help you align your goals where you want to grow. Once you know where you are going, you can then sprinkle in the right marketing strategies to get there.
So, do you know what stage of growth your business is currently in?
Many of us small business owners were not taught to look at phases of business. Nor how to leverage our current stage to reach our goals.
So let’s take a look at the three marketing stages of a business you may be in. And what areas of digital marketing best complement your business stage.
Relationship Building:
This is the stage for businesses that are big enough to know that they really need to start marketing intentionally and consistently. They are no longer a start-up.
At this stage in the game, building their marketing message, network, and processes are crucial to their success. The marketing goal at this point would be to build great relationships and get your name out there.
This is a time for testing your message, offerings, pricing, and audience. To establish who you are and what you need to be known for in your industry.
Business Building:
This is the phase in which your business wants to and can handle actively starting to implement lead generation. Your marketing mix and processes are already in place. Now it is time to start getting more leads into your funnels.
You may be ready to outsource some work at this point as well. The goal here is to drive more traffic to your message, to get more leads into your funnels.
In this stage, you will need to keep better track of lead conversions and business analytics. Allowing you to scale your business with focused intention.
Brand Building:
This stage in the game is really all about large growth, and being known and seen in your space. This is where you want to start putting out courses and other bigger offerings.
This is also a time to be putting out a lot more content. Also, focusing on next-level opportunities for your business. At this point in your journey, you will want a large multi-platform brand that has dedicated team members and departments.
The goal here is to create more content, with a focus on higher quality. This is all about getting your message out in as many spaces as you can to grow an even larger audience.
At this point, you would have multiple offers and should be spending most of your time working on your business, not in your business
So, what stage is your business in?
I hope that understanding these three stages of business, and what the marketing goal is for each stage, can help you to focus on what is most important to your business right now.
