With the holidays almost here, wouldn’t it be nice to be done with your January Marketing already? I know it would – so I am going to help you do just that!

Join me for my live workshop where I will help guide you through planning out your whole January marketing content. We will be keeping it simple and straightforward to help you achieve the goals you set for your small business.

First, we will take a quick look at what your goal is for the month. What do you want to accomplish this month with your January marketing?

Then, working from there – what expert content or promotion do you want to create to help achieve this goal? Make sure it is something that will add value to your ideal customer or benefit them in some way.

If you are looking to grow your following or increase your reach then creating problem-solving expert content is your best bet. If you are looking to increase sales or launch a new product. Then creating a great promotion (a challenge, a giveaway) will be a great marketing activity to do. This will be your main content piece for your January marketing.

Now that you have your main content for the month it is time to plan how to share it with your fans!

On average it takes a person seeing your message 7 times before they will interact with it. For more information on this check out my The Rule of 7 – Connect with an Ideal Customer 7X to Convert blog all about this topic.

So while we don’t want to bombard people with your content. We do want to give them about 7 opportunities to see your content through a blend of your marketing channels. Below is my plan to achieve that for your small business!

First, identify what social media channels you want to share your main January marketing content on

Some ideas are:

  • Facebook
  • LinkedIn
  • Instagram
  • YouTube
  • Pinterest
  • Medium

Now make 8 social media posts from or about your expert content for each social media channel. This does depend a bit on what channel you are focusing on. So plan your January marketing content in a way that best suits the channel you are on.

Then take your expert content and turn it into at least 1 blog post. If you can make it into more than 1 blog post great but 1 is a perfect start.

Lastly, take your content and send it out in an email to your list. And if you don’t have an email list or a blog – you absolutely need to.

OK – so great! You have now planned out the base of your marketing content. You just need to add a few more things to round it out.

For most that will be some more social media content. On average (and yes I know this is very broad but) most small businesses need about 20 social media posts per month. So we have 8 done already, we just need to create 12 more.

Below is what type of content I suggest wrapping up your social media posts for the month.

The goal is  20 Social Media posts

  • 8 posts about for from your expert content (done!)
  • 2 posts should focus on promoting your business or offer
  • 3 posts should inspire your ideal customer
  • 3 posts should educate your ideal customer on something they care about
  • 4 posts should entertain or make them laugh

You can also look here for a few fun and odd “holidays” you can post about in January.

Make sure you watch the live workshop to hear some content ideas. As well as more details on everything I wrote here and some great marketing tips!

Once you are done creating those you will have at least:

  1. 20 social media posts enough for the whole month
  2. A monthly email to your list
  3. A new blog post on your website

For many small business owners, this is plenty to do for their January Marketing. I really want you to focus on getting these base – and most important – marketing parts down before you take on more.

Many of us tend to over complicate things. To the point where we get overwhelmed and shut down. Don’t do this! Keep it simple, keep it light, and keep it moving <3

Now all you have to do is sit back and engage with your ideal customers or fans. Don’t forget to post organically as well. To your channels to keep the connection strong with your followers.
